CANON HUTCHINGS (Governor, 1882-1910)

Who can think of Canon Hutchings without thinking of the stars? One most memorable night a party of mistresses and girls were invited by him to look at the stars through the great telescope in his observatory. It seems very sad that we did not learn more from him when we had him, for the very look of him as he spoke about the wonders he was showing us was a kind of lifting of the veil, and helping us to feel something of the vastness of the glory which it was his special joy to dwell upon.
