JOHN WATERS (Governor, 1887-1895)
Mr. Waters was a commanding figure-tall, strong, with high shoulders, and a countenance telling of shrewd business capacity, and a sincere, fine character. We just liked him through and through, and he liked us. Amongst many instances of generous trouble taken on behalf of the school, there was one of outstanding importance, the very troublesome business in connection with the purchase of St. Margaret’s. Mr. Waters was thanked many a time, but never once was it possible to extract from him any idea of the extent of his gifts of time and thought and advice.
